Each year crop and soil science researchers from across North America meet to share research innovations and learn from each other at the Tri-Soceities Annual Meeting, hosted by the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America. The 2024 conference was held in San Antonio, Texas in November.
One feature of hte annual conference is the student competition series. Ohio State PhD student, Dan Borrenpohl, won 2nd place in the ASA Environmental Quality Division PhD competition for his work on Co-Composted Biochar Impacts on Soil Health, Crop Yields, and Greenhouse Gas Emmisions in an Integrated Crop-Livestock System (additional contributors on the work include Ricardo Henrique Ribeiro and Marilia Chiavegato). Undergraduate student, Cassie Stachler, won 1st place in Session II of the Undergraduate Research Symposium for her talk on Associated Effects of Grazing, Inundation, and Forage Mixtures on Soil Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Ohio.
