Ohio Forage & Grassland Council Annual Meeting

The Ohio Forage & Grassland Council will hold it's annual 2018 meeting on February 9th at the Ohio Department of Agriculture in Reynoldsburg. The focus of the meeting will be on establishment and grazing management of native warm season grasses, with keynote speaker Dr Pat Keyser who is the Director of the Center for Native Grassland Management of the University of Tennessee.

Tim & Sandy Shoemaker will talk about their plans to incorporate native warm season grasses on their farm in Highland County and Bob Hendershot will discuss haying and grazing management of warm season grasses. Nick Schell of the Natural Resources Conservation Service will discuss Reconnecting Cattle and Quail through the Working Lands for Wildlife Program.

Laura Minnig will speak about grazing in Cleveland, Angie Parker will report on a multi-state project evaluating the performance of the new reduced lignin alfalfa, and Dr Dave Barker will give an update on other forage research projects being conducted at The Ohio State University.
